The Appleton Estate V/X holds some special sentimental value to me. The smooth blended taste of the Jamaican rum always reminds me of the first bottle I tried. You see I didn’t buy this bottle, it was given to me as a present for my birthday by a special lady who has since become a very important person in my life.

Knowing that I loved rum and that I had been trying some different varieties, she decided to go out on a limb and buy a bottle for me, not knowing anything about rum at all, and aren’t I glad she did!

This cornerstone in the Appleton Estate range of Jamaican rums is thoroughly enjoyable, even the ladies enjoy it outside of a cocktail, well I know of at least one! It’s not too rich and not too potent, it’s smooth, flavoursome and is very easy to drink. I’ve tried on the rocks, with soda or with dry ginger, each putting their own unique twist on the rum but still maintaining that unmistakeable appleton taste!

I have about 100mls left in my bottle of Appleton Estate V/X, just enough for the two of us to enjoy again some time, I just can’t bring myself to drink it without her.
